Belated Happy New Year!

OK, so the team woke me up with the Rochester Relays performances, and I will post again!

The Webster Distance Runners led the Schroeder Boys team to victory at the Rochester Relays, as Schroeder scored 40 of their 75 points in distance events to defeat 21 other scoring teams, including R-H (68.5) and Edison (52).

The Girls finished 12th of 23 with 26 points, with 5 coming in distance events, plus 3 in the walk and 5 in the 4 x 400, which included some distance folks.

Here are my favorite boys results:
1. First place in the 4-person 1600m race, with the following performances - Nico first in 4:38, Steve an impressive 5th in 4:42, AJ 6th in 4:43 and Geoff 15th in 4:49. I like how we suddenly have a boatload of sub-5 (and even sub-4:50) milers.

2. Third place in the 2-person 3200m race, with Geoff and Adrian each running 10:18. Very fast times with 6 weeks remaining until Sectionals.

3. First place in the 4 x 800 relay in a school record 8:16. It looks like it may have been Steve in 2:05, Joe W in 2:10, Nico in 2:01 and AJ in 1:59.

4. Second place in the 5-4-3-2-lap relay. It looks like Adrian did the 5 in 2:50 and Joe W did the 2 in 56. Not sure who did the other legs in 3:45 (perhaps a 2:12 and a 1:33?).

5. Third place in the DMR. Steve did the 1200 in 3:32 - not sure of the other legs. Clue me in.

6. No points in the SMR, but it looks like a good time was had (SMR Forever!).

I should include the Shot Put relay up there, since I recall Joey C doing a 4 x 800, right? And he put up a 49-foot throw! Also, Kevin Enck could use some extra distance workouts to knock some time off his 1500 in the Pent, and he was a big factor in the High Jump (10) and Hurdle (6) points.

The girls seem to have some work to do, to get back in top shape, as the 2-person 3000m race saw Katie Edwards run 12:14 and Annelise Bay run 12:18. Annelise also jumped in the walk, to help Rebecca Irwin score 3 points. The 4-person 1500m race included a couple of newcomers: Rachel Nesbitt (6:12) and Morgan Urbanek (6:23) splitting up Katie (6:04) and Ann Hight (6:25).

I see that the Varsity returns to RIT on Friday, 1/22. That looks like a date that I can make.
