Scouting Report and Orienteering Opportunity

The scouting reports, with computer predictions for today's meet. have been uploaded to our Google Groups. They show some interesting races for this afternoon.

Also, there is an interesting Orienteering opportunity that can [optionally] be used for practice tomorrow. The Rochester Orienteering Club is hosting a meet at Webster Park. It is likely to be a relatively small event, given the starting times, but it will include some people that are traveling from afar, moving from last weekend's meet in Hamilton, ON (via a race on Goat Island at Niagara Falls) and headed to Albany for the US Classic Championships this coming weekend.

The cost for anyone from the XC team is $3 ($5 with chili, etc. included afterwards). It will be a good substitute for Wednesday's practice, with a chance to do a Sprint race (short, with relatively easy navigation - Zach should be under 20 minutes), followed by a 60-minute Score-O event, where you attempt to visit as many controls as possible. These events can/should be done at less than full speed, but that may actually yield better results, if your navigation improves.

The Sprint starts are from 2-4pm and the Score-O is a mass start event at 4:30.
