Webster Turkey Trot

Sorry I missed the weekend posting, but I was a bit busy and mostly without an internet connection. I drove up to Boston to visit a former Webster XC runner! And that meant I also got to do the Blue Hills Traverse, a rugged 13.2km orienteering race, which ended up taking over 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Anyway, I wanted to provide information about the Webster Turkey Trot, a wonderful Webster tradition. It's listed as a 4.4 mile race, but may be just a little short ;-). It was started by former Webster XC coach, Jim May, and is now conducted by a former Webster star runner, Dave Boutillier.

I highly recommend that all Webster runners participate in this race! It's a great way to start your Thanksgiving Day!

I'll be at the Turkey Trot. So will john wiseman, josh prahler, maybe Ty saunders, and i'm pretty sure Alex Brett will be there.

It's tradition for the weather to be as terrible as possible, (muddy, rainy, cold) - but most (i'd say at least 3 miles) of the course is on roads. Is it a good idea to wear spikes?

I would not wear spikes. What you may gain in the grass stretches, you lose on the roads.
