Penfield Preview

Our meet against Penfield will be their second meet of the week. They lost to Gates-Chili on Monday, 79-62. That bodes well for our chances overall.

The Distance Team will have its work cut out, however, as Greg Redfield, the Section V 2008 Class AA XC Champion, leads them. In a mid-April dual meet, he ran 4:38 in the 1600 (but lost to Brian Hotchkiss of R-H). Later in that meet, he ran 9:59 for the 3200.

Also in the 1600, Tom Elliot has run 4:45, while Mike Cauwels (7th at XC Sectionals) has only run 4:54, so far (as has Jamie Hospers).

In the 800, there don't seem to have been great individual performances, but they did run 8:32 for the 4 x 800 last weekend. Redfield has run 2:06, Cauwels 2:09, Hospers 2:10 and Elliot 2:11.

Finally, in the 3200, Elliot has run 10:21, Hospers 10:35, and Tyler Gumina (10th at XC Sectionals) has only run 10:36.
