More Olympic Trials

So, the swimming has been fun and exciting to watch, but the track athletes are back in action tonight!

There is live coverage from 9-11pm tonight, on NBCSN (the old Vs channel).  I'm hoping they will show almost all of the men's steeplechase live, since it starts at 9:30, as well as most of the women's and men's 5000m races, which start at 10:15 and 10:38, respectively.

The Women's race features Molly Huddle, who won several NYS XC and Track titles about ten years ago, running for Elmira/Notre Dame and is the current American record holder in the event.

The Men's race also features the current American record holder, Bernard Legat (12:53), as well as Galen Rupp, who ran 12:58 earlier this month and Lopez Lomong.  The meet record is still held by a guy by the name of Steve Prefontaine, who ran 13:22 back in 1972.  With three legitimate studs entered, it would not be surprising for an upstart or two (Andrew Bumbalough?) to keep the pace honest early to try to steal a spot on the team.  So, a meet record is a possibility.
